Weekend workwear with @imogenmicklewrighthill

Meet Imogen!

At Franc we’re a little obsessed with bloggers. How many do we follow? We definitely couldn’t count! So we decided it was time to ‘make a move’ and organise a catch up with a few of our faves. We were so excited to catch up with this babe, @imogenmicklewrighthill

A monochrome lover and Melbourne foodie, Imogen is a girl after our own heart. With a style that brings corporate wear into the weekend, Imogen knows how to work a good blazer! On Saturday, we sent Franc gals Lucy and Sam to catch up with her and chat style trends, having fun in corporate wear and statement earrings. Oh, and we took a few photos.

I started blogging when...

I was in a very mundane state. I was in a stale, boring office job and was already using Instagram socially. I started using it to post pretty things on my lunch break because I had no one to talk to. I was the only girl in the office and everyone was twenty years older than me! At first it was more of a mood board, then I started getting feedback from people and from there I started taking my own photos and it slowly grew into something.

My other passions are…

photography! But it’s not my forte. Actually, my partner takes a lot of my photos. I’m not going to lie! He’s very patient; I’m so lucky! I also love being outdoors! I grew up in the country in a place called Daylesford. I love getting back there and spending time away from the city.

My style is...

very Melbourne, lots of black. It always used to be quite minimal, but in the last year or so I’ve started layering up a bit more and wearing more jewellery.

When it comes to styling jewellery...

for me, if I’ve got my hair back, I always want to have a statement earring on. If my hair’s down, I want more of a stud. Workwear, I always wear a watch, a bangle and one ring.

Over the years my style has evolved...

when I first started in corporate I didn’t know what to do so I just copied everyone else. Then I realised ‘hey you can wear a really cool blazer with a nice tee.’ You don’t have to go stereotypical with a suit.  I love to blend that into the weekend as well. I love distressed denim paired with a blazer. So my style has become more structured over time.

If you want to have fun with corporate...

you can wear chinos, a nice jumper, you can throw a big coat on over the top, add a pop of colour or wear loafers! It’s absolutely not restricted.

My favourite colour for this season is...

burnt orange. Especially in statement earrings!

I follow fashion trends through…

Magazines! I always read Vogue Australia online. I love their Facebook posts because you can scroll through them really easily. They always have really good photos. Also Fashion journal. Otherwise I have my top five bloggers that I follow. The last year I’ve really started taking notice of the European trends. People who are a season ahead of us. I’m always looking to them, especially coming into summer.

If I could design a piece of jewellery it would be...

something similar to the Signature Cuff. Minimalistic, but still very bold.

Next big thing for jewellery...

I’d probably go with statement earrings. I can’t wait to wear them.
