10 Wearable Trends for SS20/21

It’s well and truly springtime in Australia (hooray), we wanted to hone in on the wearable trends we love for the upcoming sunny weather. We’ve put together some of our favourite wearable trends from the spring/summer 2020 runways, the streets and our feeds that we think are a little more timeless and worth investing in. We’ve gone from wearing lounge sets and activewear at home to wanting to embrace the warmer weather and created this guide to inspire you to find pieces to elevate your looks in the sunshine!

1. Neutrals

Camel, beige and neutral lovers rejoice! Whilst we love a pop of colour, we’re delighted to see oatmeal, creams and tan shades across our feeds. Not only are these colours sophisticated and chic but they are timeless classics that can easily be worn together.

2. Claw clips

The 90s are well and truly back with a vengeance and if you love a throwback to Clueless, Notting Hill or 10 Things I Hate About You, now is your time to shine! For an effortless look, throw your hair up in a half-up half-down style and secure with a claw clip or twist your hair completely up to achieve the look.

3. Sets

We’ve been seeing sets from loungewear to combinations of skirts, tops, shorts and blazers. Sets are an amazing option which gives you three items in one! Wear the pieces separately or together and opt for a colour or print you love to get the most out of your pieces.

4. Statement sleeves

These are a beautiful statement at any time of the year that add structure and effortless style. The 80s-inspired puff sleeve silhouette on tops and dresses is a perfect easy-to-wear option to elevate your outfit from simple to exceptional.

5. Square toed heels

This twist on the traditional heel is a beautiful way to make your outfit unique. If they aren’t your shoe of choice, fear not! We have been loving any small heeled mule to complement summer outfits. We also don’t think you can go wrong by opting for a basic pair of neutral coloured slides to throw on as you’re racing out the door in the spring and summer time.

7. Vintage-style accessories

We’ve been obsessing over all things rattan at HQ and that includes bags! Any kind of wicker/basket bag is a beautiful option to make your outfit more summery. We’ve also seen the re-emergence of faux croc and vintage-style neutral coloured accessories which can be added to your collection and can be worn for many, many years to come!

7. Midi, midi and midi

Mid-length skirts and dresses have been one of our favourite trends. They’re a flattering and versatile length, a sophisticated  choice for almost any occasion!

8. Gold layered necklaces and hoops

The pieces that never go out of fashion! These accessories are sure to complement any outfit, no matter where you’re headed. We have been loving textured hoops like our amazing Fletcher hoops or Cosmos create hoops. We also think you can’t go wrong with adding charms to our bobble chain or rope chain (amazing pieces for layering) to complete your look.

9. Linen, linen and more linen!

Whether it’s a blazer, dress, pants or shirt - we can’t get enough of linen. Easy to style, light and breezy, linen is a timeless and fresh summertime classic.

10. Decorative Masks

It wouldn’t be a 2020 blog post without mentioning face masks! From haute couture masks to gorgeous homemade pieces, we’ve seen an amazing array of designs from pearls, animal prints, florals to simple seasonal colours.
